Racism—A Plague of Our Past...
(Most African Americans will find some of these concepts somewhat alien; however, an in-depth analysis will clarify those concerns. Keep reading...)
Racism’s Deadly Scourge
...
Racism has cast an evil, deadly
blemish on our society. The horrendous
effects of racism have been so deeply encrusted into the spirit—the very
soul—of the American psyche... that we can’t seem to shake it! It’s like a deadly cancer. Its core is merely a cynical flaw in the
American character, a flaw engraved within us by our beloved ancestors. O, how we respected, admired, and honored
them! Their ideals and values still ring
ominously in our minds.
However, attached to those values are evil omens...ideologies that threaten to destroy us, that detach us from a very vital union with God and goodness. These ideologies distort our thinking; negate the good and just and decent within our spirits; destroy our ability to love, care, share, and to have a desire to bear our neighbors’ burdens. In essence, these racist values render us incapable of feeling the spirit of God and goodness and justice and basic human decency.
Indeed, racism is a
deadly cancer; and once this cancer starts destroying the good within us;
we become separated from God and good--all the beneficent attributes that being human offers us—no matter how hard we try! We desire desperately to be
Christians—God-loving, God-living, God-fearing, God-thriving good people; but
with the bitter racist demonic essence rumbling within our spirits, and
fighting viciously against God and goodness; we are too weak and mean-spirited
to regain control of ourselves.
Some of us try to rid ourselves of the debilitating disease of racism, but its evil spirit is deep, and even if we garner the strength to get beyond the vicious racist demons, we are surrounded by millions of other racist people; who, too, are infested with the very same demons.
Most of us, however, have no desire to escape the ravishes of racism. Most of us have fully accepted racist doctrines. therefore, our total attachment to racist concepts becomes a self-fulfilling illness. Our sickness becomes more invigorated each time we engage in conversations with those of like minds, hearts, and spirits.
Even when we attend our religious worship services, we find ourselves conjuring up the spirits of our elders—their thoughts, traditions, deeds...all which we have been
taught were noble, good, and virtuous principles, no matter how much they contradict truth, justice, decency, and basic human goodness. Ultimately, as our minds and spirits commune with other like spirits, we are reinforced, reinvigorated, reestablished in our racist ideology.
Conservativism, we call it—a return to traditional values, practices, concepts, customs.... We even label ourselves conservatives, in our desperate attempts to never escape the grasp of the ideologies of our elders. It’s a sick, demented attachment to the atrocious callousness of our ancestors; but these are the teachings they instilled into us, and we want desperately to respect them.
And so, racism flourishes, emanating from the very depth of our beings...from our very souls. Ultimately, we become consumed: The specter of the disease of racism is so deeply engraved into our very beings that we are rendered soul-less, heart-less, God-less.... What an aberration we are! ...Soul-less beings, wandering aimlessly...lost in a despicable sea of whiteness, hue-less-ness, senselessness, nothingness... in a world void of God and goodness and generosity and greatness... void of virtue , decency, integrity...a world of ugliness, mean-spirit- ness, wickedness, vindictiveness... total Godless-ness.
